This blog is slightly different, short snappy and to the point. Earlier in the year I went to watch ex-professional rugby player and former England & Scotland coach Andy Robinson deliver a speech on leadership at Bristol Brunel Academy.

I’m not a huge fan of rugby but I can appreciate the game and skill set behind it and I was excited to learn from Andy. He shared his story and the philosophies he lives and coaches by, here are a few points he discussed:

Embrace change

You need 100% commitment to achieve change

Enjoy receiving feedback

You are in control of the outcome, whether we win or lose we are responsible. Take control & full responsibility for your own actions

Execute the basic skills

Always be on time

Go for it and own it

He touched on some great points; one which fascinated me was ‘Always be on time’ because he said this was non-negotiable with his players. So I asked him “How do you ensure you are always on time and is time management a skill?” He said he looks at his planned week and ensured there is enough time to achieve the tasks they have set in the time they have dedicated to it. He also stated that if you treat time with respect and see it as an important factor; then you will always be on time.

I told you it was a short post, I hope you can take something away from it.

Stay Hungry, stay Humble and remember Only The Hungriest Succeed.
