School Podcast with Sian Lord – Cameron Parker sat down with Motivational Speaker from team Dreams 2 Reality Sian Lord for the School Podcast. This was an incredible episode where Sian dived into her life, overcoming many challenges including the life changing accident in New York City.

Before we dive into this a little deep, watch the episode below:

Here is a breakdown version of Sians story:

“Some might say my experience sounds like the plot of a gripping movie. It was August 2013 in New York City, and my best friend and I were just beginning our holiday when the unthinkable happened. Out of nowhere, a taxi driver swerved onto the sidewalk, hitting a cyclist before colliding with me, severing my left leg. Amidst the chaos, a plumber rushed to my aid, using his belt as a tourniquet to control the bleeding. Remarkably, Dr. Oz, the well-known American celebrity, was there and did everything he could to save my life.

After that surreal event, I spent the next six weeks at Bellevue Hospital in New York City. Despite the nightmare, I felt incredibly lucky to be alive, determined to keep a positive outlook knowing things could have been far worse. Over four surgeries, I underwent the necessary procedures to begin adapting to life as an amputee.

When I returned home, I shared my story with the New York press and TV shows, but my real journey began as I learned to walk again. Before the accident, I was passionate about dance, stilt walking, and studying fashion buying with design. Having already faced challenges in life, I approached rehabilitation with fierce determination, using my past experience with stilt walking to help me adjust to my new prosthetic limb.

Fashion remained a central part of my life, and I refused to let it slip away. While continuing my studies, I earned my degree with distinction in 2015. At the same time, I founded The Sian Green Foundation, which supports other amputees and helps provide funding for prosthetic limbs.

This journey has shown me the power of perseverance and resilience. Now, I’m driven by a deep desire to inspire and uplift others who face similar challenges. I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason, and I’m committed to using my story to make a positive impact on the lives of others.”
