Schools motivational speaker and coach Cameron Parker has been spending a huge amount of time working with year 11s getting them across the line for their GCSEs. This is all a part of Camerons well established Power Programme. A programme that is designed for Pupil Premium students, and supporting schools on closing the attainment gap.

There are 4 key areas the programme focuses on:

  1. Mindset and Motivation.
  2. Academic Performance.
  3. Well-being.
  4. Life Lessons.

The key area I want to focus on in this blog is ‘Life Lessons’. But before we do, watch the video below:

As you can see. When a group is heavily focused on apprenticeships, we teach and show the students how to create opportunities for themselves. We believe it is a great learning exercise; a huge benefit is the students are learning how to experience rejection.

Resilience is a key factor to success. We rarely learn from experiences when things work in our favour, we learn more from mistakes, set backs and not getting what we want. I say to my students, we can hear 100 rejections from employers, we only need one ‘Yes’.

We then focus on joining up the dots between where they are now and where they want to go. What skills, characteristics and habits do we need to start to develop to ensure we are successful in the specific field we are trying to be successful in.

Anyways, I digress. The main point of this blog is to display the work we are doing in schools and enforce this important message:

If you want something, then go after it!

In a world that is changing quickly, we need to act on the goals and dreams we have. For any teachers or parents still here, we need to teach our teenagers to be patience but still act with urgency.

There you have it; short and sharp. If you need anything from me then shoot me an email cam@cameron-parker.com
