Why is Laughter In Schools Crucial?

I’m starting this post with a quote I heard recently watching the comedian Kevin Hart live in London, he said:

“If you can laugh together, you can live together. And if you can live together you can love together.” 

I found that quote extremely powerful as it resonated with me; I believe many of us focus on the negative, the hate, and the ignorance that is present in the world. Regardless whether we are a teacher or a young student in the classroom we all have emotions and feel the stresses of society.

As leaders of the classroom it is crucial we understand and respect that thought. Why? It can alter our approach in motivating and educating our students. There are many things that can shift our teaching behavior, but one area I want to touch on is laughter.

So, why is laughter in schools crucial? It breeds positivity, happiness, and a sense of relatedness for the students. If the students are feeling this way they are more likely going to approach the session with an open mind and a willingness to learn. 

I have experienced this with inspiring tens of thousands of students each year around the UK; and laughter is one aspect that has the power to unite everyone.
