Inspiring At Grow Gloucestershire Showcase Awards – On the 22nd of November I had the opportunity to inspire the guest at the Grow Gloucestershire Showcase Awards at Cheltenham racecourse. Around 130 guest attended the event, the night was very well organised with everyone had an amazing time.
The event was to recognise young people in Gloucestershire aged between 14 and 24 years old who have kick-started their careers and the businesses, individuals and schools who have supported them. (Punchline Gloucester)
Punchline magazine has also reported their take of the night, it was great to have an opportunity of being featured on their website. Here is the link to the article – Article
This event was close to my heart, I was extremely lucky to be apart of it. I am originally from Gloucester; I have a great understanding of the challenges and obstacles that lie in the way of the younger generation.
My opinion has came from first hand experience; leaving school and having no idea what I wanted to do or achieve, this caused me to sway down the wrong path and get involved with the wrong people. Fortunately I managed to climb my way out of the hole I dug for myself; however others are not so lucky, and get stuck for a long time.
That is why I believe my message is so powerful and resonated with the individuals who attended the evening; it is no secret that one of my focuses is to inspire and have a lasting impact on the younger generation, not just in Gloucestershire but also around the UK.
The feedback from the event was incredible; people who I never thought would’ve benefit from my message came up to me after the event, personally thanking me for sharing my story, they also informed me that my motivational message has had a positive impact on them.
It was also a pleasure to share the stage with Steve Knibbs, BBC Points West presenter who hosted the night. I learnt a lot from him and I look forward to working with him again in the near future.
This post was just to give you a quick update of what I have been up to; I apologise if there are any spelling mistakes, blame my dyslexia, but really it comes down to only having a short period of time to write this…manic schedule!
