I Can’t Wait for 2020 to be OVER – It’s no secret 2020 has been a difficult year for many. Our lives have been turned upside down and we have been forced to operate outside of our normal routines. It’s been tough and I know that the students I have worked with have struggled. I’ve also struggled at times too.
But let me ask you a question, have you said, or heard anyone say:
“I Can’t WAIT for 2020 to be OVER”
I totally understand why people say it. 2020 probably hasn’t looked or been the year we all planned in January. But wishing the year away is wishing your life away. It’s not enough to hope that 2021 will be better and everything in the world will go back to normal. Who is to say that 2021 won’t be more of the same? This is all assumption of course, but I do know this:
“The reality is we can’t control what happens, but we can control how we respond to it.”
So, how are you going to respond? What are you going to do next? There is a little problem when people say, “I can’t wait for 2020 to be over”. The problem is you have to wait, you have no choice as you can’t speed up time. That leaves us with a burning question, what should I do with that time?
You can sit back and do nothing. Play the blame game, point the finger and choose not to be proactive with this time. This will be an option for some people, and some people could be choosing this unconsciously. I believe:
If you want the best 2021, it starts NOW, not on January 1st, BUT NOW!
You are giving yourself a head start and a better opportunity to have a great next year. We need to build momentum and that is done through small wins. If you wait, then you will start the 2021 slower, and this can result in more challenges. When you take proactive steps, you are not waiting for anyone, you are taking control and doing your best. The perfect time doesn’t exist, but progress does, and progress will get you the results you want in life.
Your choice, make excuses or make a plan? The best time to start was yesterday. The next best time is NOW.
Once that plan is down on paper, we can then begin to work towards it. If you take this approach, then your future self will thank you for it. I know teenagers who have excelled in lockdown, I know adults who have started businesses and I know some people who have started to lose lots of weight. The list can go on, the bottom line is you have a choice of how you wish to spend your time.
Before I wrap this up; I know many people having been through or are going through some extremely challenging times. The most important thing is you stay safe and you are there for your loved ones if they need you, that is the priority. Then you take the rest of this blog into consideration.
Time to finish the year off strong…2021 will be a great year, it starts NOW!
