Delivering in schools every day and running The School Podcast means I hear the same theme over and over again—from teachers, parents, heads, trusts: Attendance.

It’s the heartbeat of everything. If students don’t show up, nothing else can happen. No curriculum, no intervention, no progress… nothing.

That’s why, whenever we begin the Power Programme, one of the key performance measures we focus on is attendance. Not because it’s a number on a spreadsheet—but because it represents habits, mindset, consistency, and belief.

So to receive feedback like this from the educational director Tom Hague will never stop blowing me away:

“Our Year 11 students have struck up a keen relationship with Cam over the past six months or so – and it’s no coincidence that as a year group their attendance is up over 2% on last year, and they are set to break all results records this summer.”

Over 2% up—for a whole year group. In Year 11. That is massive. And yes, I’m proud. Incredibly proud. Not just of our team or the programme, but of the students who decided to show up differently… and the staff who back them every single day.

Because the truth is, we can’t take all the credit. We’re not the ones in the corridors from 8am. We’re not the ones doing form time, chasing attendance, having the hard conversations, or resetting the standards when it slips.

The teachers and pastoral staff are the real heroes.

They’re the ones who make progress possible. We simply help spark the mindset shift. They live it, reinforce it, and protect it.

To see students growing, showing up more, and moving towards their best-ever results… that’s why we do this. And we’re only halfway through the Power Programme.

The momentum is real. And the summer is going to be special.
