Motivational Speaking Impact at Young Carer Event – Motivational Speaker Cameron Parker was invited by Study Higher to deliver sessions at their Young Carers event. The feedback was excellent. Here are the messages Cameron received on social media from people who attended the event:
“I loved meeting you today it was the highlight of my year”
“Hi my daughter was having a rough day today and she said meeting you has made her day. My daughter suffers from PTSD, anxiety and depression.”
“It was so moving it made me cry which I haven’t done in a while so thank you.”
“Thank you so much for coming yesterday. That was the first time I spoke about being a carer properly and appreciate it.”
“Hi Cameron. I’m one of the student ambassadors at yesterdays event. Your session was really helpful for me. I can relate a lot to your story, the problems building up in life. Honestly, I was feeling so anxious when I turned yesterday morning, but being there helped me calm down and feel better. Thank you.”
In the feedback form at the end of the day. All students were asked, what did you learn from Cameron? Here are the responses:
“How to manage stress and that how to close to the goals. No what ifs! I enjoyed this the most out of all and found this the most effective.”
“It made me aware of prioritising myself and widening my comfort zone. I could relate to it a lot and it inspired me to accept that I can’t please everyone all the time.”
“Self love and self respect. It’s good to let your emotions out.”
“He gave me motivation for the future for my future and also taught me that you can achieve anything in life you put your mind to.”
“Sometimes you need to not worry too much about things and to find something to take your mind off of it.”
‘I learnt how to handle my stress.”
“That I don’t need to overload myself with lots to do as a distraction for feeling guilty and how to avoid stress.”
“The stress bucket and how to manage stress. P. S – He’s a cool guy.”
“That even though everyone has different experiences, they all deal with different levels of stress and even though something little may make them flip, there is defiantly something deeper going on.”
“I learnt how to be able to communicate whoever your comfortable with. I am able to draw my own mental health bucket to try and find a way to sort through my own own problems.”
“Motivated me to work harder to actually achieve my goals.”
“That having mental health is okay. That it is okay to feel angry and have a tipping point in life.”
Cameron loved his experience at the Young Carer Event. Here’s Camerons thoughts:
“This was an incredible day. It was a Saturday; therefore everyone chose to be there. The students focus, effort and empathy showed for others was second to none. I genuinely came away feeling inspired by the young people I have worked with. This event was the reason why I do what I do.”
There you have it. As you can see the event was a huge success. Study Higher has really created a wonderful opportunity for our young people. Thank you to everyone who’s involved in making this Saturday special.
